2010 Newbery and Caldecott Medals were awarded Jan 18.

The Newbery Medal is awarded annually by the Association for Library Service to Chilren to the aughor of the most distinguished contribution to American literature for children. This years prize is "When you reach me" by Rebecca Stead. This sci-fi/fantasy book harkens back to A Wrinkle in Time. Click here for a list of 2010 Honor Books.
The Caldecott Medal, awarded annually by ALSC, to the artist of the most distinguished American picture book for children was given to first time winner Jerry Pinkey for his stunning textured watercolor illustrations in his new book "The Lion & the Mouse" Click here for a list of 2101 Honor Books.
