<br /></div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
Next time you're in the library, check out what's new in our display case-- a collection of police patches from all over the United States and a few from other countries, as well! These items are on loan from a local high school student who has over 150 police patches, ranging from local township police to state highway patrol patches. </div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
<br /></div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
In the display, see if you can find the patch from the police department that's closest to Radnor. And see if you can find the names of all the other countries represented in the collection. </div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
<br /></div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
In addition to the patches, you'll find a modern-day Italian Carabinieri officer's hat!</div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">

<div align="left" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This past Saturday was pretty mild, with only a few small scattered corners of snow in the shadows around the Radnor Library... But inside, Magician Steve Woyce inspired imaginations to step into a winter wonderland adventure. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-pLR7UKuBXts/Tymic0q9MKI/AAAAAAAAADI/t_IaGsSArfI/s1600/Steve+Woyce_Winter+Wonderland+Magic+3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" sda="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-pLR7UKuBXts/Tymic0q9MKI/AAAAAAAAADI/t_IaGsSArfI/s320/Steve+Woyce_Winter+Wonderland+Magic+3.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Every hand in the audience (parents and grandparents were outstanding sports!) formed a snowball and tossed it up front into a magical pan. And then, with one quick movement, the previously empty pan revealed a fully-formed snowman. The giggles took over the room when Steve couldn't find the right magic wand and when he gave his volunteers all kinds of silly tasks and silly props and silly hats. The grand finale was the most delightful surprise... After some entertaining antics, we watched a real rabbit suddenly appear, twitching nose and all!</div>Radnor Kidzonehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03564076192254211131noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1990679432647531106.post-15087119727764971772012-01-25T17:03:00.001-05:002012-02-01T16:23:42.163-05:00Newbery and Caldecott Winners Announced!Check out the best of the best in children's literature published in 2011!<br />

<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
January 13th started out as a typically quiet Friday morning at the Radnor Library... until about 10:30 when the Winsor Room swarmed with an enthusiastic crowd of toddlers, preschoolers, and their caregivers for an hour of musical fun with local Kindermusik instructor Becky Douglas. The jackets and mittens came off and the smiles came on when Miss Becky handed out an assortment of musical instruments perfect for little ones, like wooden sticks and egg shakers.</div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
<br /></div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
Even basic household objects became sources of music and movement--Plastic spoons held a beat, scarves created colorful motion, and paper plates became ice skates as the children glided across the carpeted floor.</div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
Miss Becky led action rhymes and dances and kept the energy up with her musical reading of <em>Cows in the Kitchen </em>by June Crebbin.</div>
<br />
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
We had a lot of fun and are always thankful for Becky sharing her time and expertise with us so generously! Find out more about Becky Douglas' Kindermusik classes at <a href="http://www.musikfundamentals.com/"><span style="color: #0044aa;">www.musikFUNdamentals.com</span></a>.</div>

Hi! My name is Carrie and I'm the new Children's Librarian at Radnor Library. I just started at the end of December and will be working with Miss Carlson at the Children's Desk. I will also be leading the Big Steps and Preschool Storytimes.<br />
<br />
Some of my favorite books are <em>A Little Princess</em> by Frances Hodgson Burnett and <em>The Sound of Colors: A Journey of the Imagination</em> by Jimmy Liao.<br />
<br />
I look forward to meeting some Radnor families at storytime, upcoming events, and around the library. Please stop by and introduce yourself any time!Radnor Kidzonehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03564076192254211131noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1990679432647531106.post-46529921447564130232011-10-20T14:40:00.003-04:002011-10-20T15:13:57.653-04:00Bye From Abbe<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ha3oB1uReDw/TqBtRD7QVVI/AAAAAAAAAAQ/s53v-kjik3M/s1600/stargirl.gif"><img style="MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 131px; FLOAT: left; HEIGHT: 200px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5665648471111128402" border="0" alt="" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ha3oB1uReDw/TqBtRD7QVVI/AAAAAAAAAAQ/s53v-kjik3M/s200/stargirl.gif" /></a><br /><br /><div>A picture of my favorite book.</div><br /><br /><div>Today is my last day at Radnor Memorial Library. I'm so thankful that Dorothy Carlson hired me five years ago while I was still a library student. She guided me and was a tremendous mentor. </div><br /><div>I have come to love all my wonderful, hardworking colleagues. And I especially love those who have come into the library seeking help with a title, enjoyed storytimes, and participated in our programs.<br /></div><br /><div>Change is never easy. I'm not one for long speeches. So I'll just say thanks so much to each of you who have touched my life. I hope I've helped a few wee ones love books just a bit more and brought some joy into your life. I know what I've gained is so much more!<br /></div><br /><div>Please welcome the new librarian (yet to be hired) with welcome arms and a big smile. </div><br /><div>I'm going to Lansdowne Public Library, so if you find yourself in the area, stop in and say hi!</div>Radnor Kidzonehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03564076192254211131noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1990679432647531106.post-32469564295582546232011-10-18T16:22:00.002-04:002011-10-18T16:32:33.682-04:00Monkeys in the House - The Radnor Library House<iframe width="425" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/NkaJVgIda6w?hl=en&fs=1" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe><br /><br />John Hadfield had a few tricks up his sleeve when he brought a barrel of monkey laughs to Radnor Memorial Library on Oct. 15th.
