A good tail!

PALS for Reading is in its 4th successful year at Radnor. Our last reading for the year occurred on On April 21, 2009. Specially selected children read to trained therapy animals to practice reading skills. Confidences levels increase along with their reading skills and the animals gets lots and lots of love and hear a great story too. Check it out below. Newbery Honor Author wins over Audiences




Gary Schmidt, author of Trouble, Wednesday Wars, Lizzy Bright and the Buckminster Boy, among others spoke to the 6th and 7th graders at Radnor Middle School on April 16. Later that night, Radnor Community had a chance to hear a great storyteller muse on his writings, his experiences with readers and other topics. He later signed books for audience members. After his talk, Board Member, Mark Monjin presented Schmidt with a rare Shakespeare book! Thanks to the Friends of the Library for sponsoring this event. Original music by Dennis Parrish

Radnor Trustee wins Librarian Award; Librarians are honored



Radnor Memorial Library Trustee and Radnor Middle School Librarian Nancy MacKenzie was awarded the honor of 2009 Public School Librarian of the Year in the 17th Senatorial District, presented Firday, April 17 by Senator Daylin Leach. Way to go Nancy!!

Ann Etris, Information Librarian, and Abbe Klebanoff, Children's Librarian, were both nominated for 2009 Librarian of the Year at this event!

Afterschool Book and Craft Program Concludes



Our afterschool program concluded with leader, Julia Sherwood reading Click, Clack, Moo by Doreen Cronin. The children then made farm animal mobiles. Julia is an elementary education student at Cabrini College.

Teen Coordinator Molly Carroll brought "Taffy" her ssssssentional 21-year old blind, albino, King snake to Preschool storytime on April 14 and 15. Kids were able to touch Taffy as Molly talked about the life-cycle of snakes and other cool snake facts. Check out a snippet of her visit.

Award Winning Author to speak at Radnor April 16



Author Gary Schmidt (we totally love all his books!!) will speak at Radnor Memorial library on April 16th at 7:30 p.m. This free evening program is open to the public, with book sale and signing to follow.

Schmidt has written such books as Trouble, Lizzy Bright and the Buckminster Boy and The Wednesday Wars, just to name a few!
